US AIRWAYS MECHANICS TO MAKE MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT AT PRESS CONFERENCE

US Airways Mechanics and Related from Across the Country to Speak at Event
(CHARLOTTE, NC) – On Tuesday, May 7 US Airways airline mechanics from across the country will hold a press conference in Charlotte, N.C. to make a major announcement concerning their ongoing organizing campaign to become Teamsters. A call-in number is provided below for members of the media that are not based in Charlotte and would like to join the press conference. There will be a question and answer period during the call.
In October 2012, US Airways mechanics and related launched their campaign to seek industry-leading representation with the Teamsters Union. With more than 4,000 mechanics and related across the country, the workers, in conjunction with the Teamsters Aviation Mechanics Coalition and the Teamsters Airline Division, have gained majority support for the union. The workers want the best representation in the industry to protect their rights throughout the entire merger process between American Airline and US Airways.
The International Brotherhood of Teamsters represents more than 80,000 workers throughout the airline industry in every craft and class, including 18,000 airline mechanics and related at 10 carriers – more than any other union.
